Founded in 1987, the company went from rags to riches within a decade, emerging as a SOO Line spin-off called “Lake States Transportation.” The independent railroad enjoyed nearly 15 years of profitable operation before being acquired by Canadian National Railway in 2001. This video encapsulates the essence of Wisconsin Central at it’s finest: a company that took pride in customer service, its employees, and the communities it served.
