Fox Valley Models HO Scale Thrall 52' 6" 2244 Gondola, Union Pacific/Conspicuity Stripes/CNW Reporting Marks

Thrall's 52'-6" gondolas were prevalent during the modern era. Within the category of 2244 cubic foot capacity cars, Thrall produced numerous variations tailored to specific client requirements. Significant variations were implemented on these cars throughout the 1970s. Side sheet configurations included 14 or 15 panels, as well as corrugated options. Some cars exhibited a pronounced side sill drop, while others featured a shallower design. While the majority of gondolas employed a standard flanged top chord, certain models incorporated a more robust tubular top chord.  

The 2244 gondolas, while predominantly utilized for general service, were also adapted for specialized functions, including coil service through the integration of internal racks and, in some instances, covers. Although their prevalence has diminished, these gondolas remain operational, serving both commercial interests and maintenance-of-way requirements.
