Stephen Priest Joins ScaleTrains.com as Our Marketing Manager

Stephen has been an avid model railroader for more than 45 years and earned the distinction of Master Model Railroader (MMR) from the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA). He also has served on the NMRA Board of Directors and received the NMRA President’s Award twice. The Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society (SFRH&MS) has recognized Stephen for his preservation efforts and service too.

 

Stephen’s railroading career started with Santa Fe and continued with the BNSF merger. Since 1996, Stephen has led PRRP Proto Models as well as Paired Rail Railroad Publications. In addition to authoring and co-authoring a dozen books, he has served as editor for both Railroad Model Craftsman and NMRA Magazine. He has also worked with several model railroad manufacturers with the research and development of numerous products.

 

I feel very fortunate and thrilled to be joining the incredibly talented team at ScaleTrains.com. Milwaukee Road SD40-2 Revisions

 

Due to feedback from numerous Milwaukee Road modelers, as well as to improve accuracy and detail, we have made changes to the paint and details on the units in this second production run of Milwaukee Road SD40-2s, which include “Locotrol” units, and Bicentennial-painted MILW #156.  Below is a list of all of the features of the final production models; we encourage you to review these revisions and revised artwork to help ensure that any specific road numbers pre-ordered fit your modeling era.  Please contact us if you have any other questions.

  • Era represented by configuration: 1979+
  • Notched pilot faces with reinforced lifting eyes, and loop-style uncoupling levers
  • *Blanking plate added at former location of cab roof electronic bell
  • Locotrol antenna conduits and whip antenna bases added to cab roof
  • Prime PM-8901 rotary beacon on cab roof
  • Icicle breaker chain troughs
  • *Whip antenna base added to early-style fan grill on last radiator fan (new grill etching with spiral ring, and center disk)
  • Hood-mounted traditional bell installed behind cab, fireman’s side

  • *Battery box and sub-base lettering revised to shorter and more condensed “Version 2” style, after MILW #156 had its Bicentennial paint renewed in 1976; this version never offered before on a mass-produced model or decal set
  • *White eliminated from uncoupling levers
  • *Green and yellow MU hose color coding stripes deleted from pilot faces
  • Blue on carbody will be improved
